Andrew Gilbert is a DOP and film maker with an impressive international client list spanning commercial and non commercial models in the fashion and beauty industry. He has worked with some industry greats including Miles Aldridge, Solve Sundsbo, MTV, Vivienne Westwood, Burbank, Julian McDonald, Junya Watanabe, Hermes, Fashion East and Warner Brothers.
He is Co Director of AKAcreate – a media production company that specialises in fashion and beauty image making, videos and events – Since it’s foundation in 2016 AKAcreate have worked a with Gareth Pugh, Charles Jeffrey, Christopher Shannon, Joshua Kane, Craig Green, Schwarzkopf, Revlon, La Biosthetique and Yohji Yamamoto among others.
Andrew Co-founded the brand Myhairdressers.com and held the position of Creative Director/ DOP /Photographer; it was formed in 2007, MHD is now the worlds largest and most popular online beauty training resource 120 countries.
Andrew began his expansive career at Vidal Sassoon where he worked for 20 years initially as an educator, working his way up to Art Director and finally being part of the Senior Creative Team producing promotional media for international marketing, PR, shows and education.
To photograph is to hold one’s breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It’s at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy.
